Our buns little paws are so precious. They tend to get sore hocks if we don't provide soft areas for them to rest on. This cotton flopping pad is just thick enough to give them protection from the hard floor, but not too thick where they will rock back and forth like on beds designed for doggies & kitties :) Although there have been a few doggy or kitty owners that have told me their furbabies love these pads too! Not to mention guinea pigs too ;)
This listing is for a reversible cotton flopping pad made with two pieces of pre-washed flannel, and 5 layers of 100% cotton. The pad measures approximately 16" x 21" and may vary by just a few centimeters as I machine sew each one by hand so the batting may have shifted some as I sewed it down. The pad will shrink a little with washing and drying (best to do cold water and low heat or line dry). But I find the batting that I use does puff up some, so it will increase in thickness a little. It starts out about 3/4" thick.
I have pre-washed all the fabric in my own homemade non toxic detergent before sewing so that when you wash it, it will (hopefully!) not shrink more on you - but there's a likelihood that it will... Just wanted to let you know...I've discovered that the batting that I've been using really puffs up after you wash and dry it. If you find it shrink smaller, you just need to tug at it a little bit to pull it back into shape. It's best to wash in cold water as the material will get rough if doing it in hot - same when drying, low heat would be best, hang drying even better... If you add a 1/4-1/2 cup white vinegar to your bleach/fabric softener section of your washer it can help keep it soft and the color from fading.
My work is done in memory of my Mochi who was the best bunspector! My little Lychee is in training to learn the art of bunspection and modeling, and is learning the high standards that Mochi set :)
